Treasurer’s Report:  Katie Costanzo – Katie C. presented a cumulative report that included December 3, 2024, January 7, 2025 and February, 4, 2025.  Most of the income came from dues, Messineo Fund donations, and payments for the Banquet. Expenses were primarily for the Banquet.
Correspondence:  Pat Galvin –  issues of  Ye Olde Valve Clattre from the Portland, Oregon MG club were shared with members.
Editors’ Report:  Pat Galvin and Kim Mercer – We need photos and articles; suggest restoration projects etc.
Ongoing items:

  • The Freese Legislative Update:  Ken Freese -  All of current bills haven’t  moved because the legislature  is in a special session.  Of note:
    • SB 2 would void specified amendments to the Low-Carbon Fuel Standard regulations adopted by the state board on November 8, 2024. This was sent to the Committee on Environmental Quality.
    • H.J. Res 26.  The House submitted a Joint Resolution which disapproves the rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to “Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles — Phase 3” (89 Fed. Reg. 29440 (April 22, 2024)), and such rule shall have no force or effect. Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce.  This would basically reduce legislation standards to the 1980’s level.
  • Regalia Update: Dale Nichols – Not present
  • Welcome Wagon: Katie O –    She has many name badges (new and old) so if you bought one see her and pick yours up!
  • May 18th Dixon Car Show:
    • February 12th 7:00pm Workgroup meeting scheduled at Costanzo’s Home (and Zoom Call)  We will go over assignment spreadsheet. Please RSVP.
    • Ken Montgomery finalized the logo for the Show, and we now have posters available to distribute.  Come get some to use to advertise the Show.  Suggestion is to hang them in car parts stores, diners, donut shops etc.
    •  Registration is now up on the UBSCC website.
    • May 9th – Steve Blair offered his house for Stuff It.  Time will be from 4 to 7 pm.  After we fill the goodie bags, we will have a potluck dinner.  The club will supply the main course & non-alcoholic drinks.

  • Upcoming Events /New Business
  • February 8th - Carz n Coffee – Mike Rapoza: Sweet Dozen donut shop,5207 Madison Ave.  suite E
Sacramento.  Look for the email with more information.
  • February 21st; Fair Oaks Tech Session - David Neff: will have a tech session to go over a Bugeye Sprite that is a stalled restoration.   The owner passed away, but the wife would enjoy having this car.  Stay tuned for dates and info.
  • March 8th - Carz n Coffee – Mike Rapoza. Location TBD
  • March 15th; Shamrock Rally – Pat Galvin:  UBSCC is not attending the Old Sac Parade, so some members that enjoy a longer drive may want to attend the Shamrock Rally.  Starts at a midtown coffee shop and ends in Folsom.  Last year it was about 120 miles of fun driving, no freeway.  It will be a longer-distance drive (about 120 miles) so more driving.
  • May 9th May Car Show Stuff It will be at Steve Blair’s house. 4 – 7 pm, includes a potluck dinner.
  • May 12th ARC Award Dinner 4-7 pm – Pat Galvin.  The club donates from the Messineo Memorial Fund -about $2500 – to the Auto Technology Program at ARC, for food and tools (very reduced prices) awarded to top graduates chosen by the instructors and students.  They have a new facility, so we are excited to see that.  The students and faculty are always interested in our cars with carburetors!
  • May 17th;  Field Setup for Dixon Show
  • May 18th:  Dixon Car Show
  • June Multi-Club Picnic Rally – Dave Underwood. We are planning an event with Dennis Bentley, president of the Sacramento Jaguar Club, and Dave Lawson,  the president of the Sacramento Valley MG Car Club.  We are working on the route, and looking for a location for the picnic at the end of the drive.  We will need a head count in March for final planning.
  •

Grand Poobah  Nothing to report

For the Good of the Club –

  • 1959 Austin Healey 100, BN1 or BN2.  We were contacted by a woman who has the car, and she says it has been stored on the ground, so likely in poor condition with rust.  Contact Jerry Costanzo if you would like the lady’s contact info.
  • Zack reports that the Reno British Car Club show will be Saturday 9/27 which is the same day at the Ironstone Concours Show in Murphys, CA.
  • Dennis Flosi suggested a rally for the weekend after Memorial Day.  The drive would go around the Lake Berryessa  Loop.

Next Meeting Date/Location: Tuesday, March 4th, Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse; 2100 Arden Way. Starting at 7:00 PM.
Meeting adjourned at:7:27 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Katie Owens, Secretary
