President's Message

Here we are at the end of the year, and the end of my term as UBSCC President. Not the way I was hoping to start my last Prez Message, but it was sad to hear of Tony Pantoja’s passing.

When my daughter and I joined the Club more than 10 years ago, he and his wife Stephanie made us feel very welcome. He had a great sense of humor and generous with his time. He and his son sponsored a welding Tech Session at the Costanzo’s home, he was very patient to say the least. His was always the first Christmas Card to arrive. A truly great warm person, he will be missed.

I want to thank all of you for your support over the years. Not just as President, but as Editor and Secretary as well. Your support was always positive and constructive. This Club has always been a fun group with folks willing to step up and do what is needed. Thank you to all who did step up.

The soul of the Club is the Costanzo’s. We are lucky for the commitment of Katie to keep our funding robust and
provide her guidance behind the scenes. Jerry IS the Dixon Car Show, probably the Clubs most important roll in the British Car world. As the Donation Chair, vendors tell me they are always surprised by the size of our event and that it is 100% volunteers. Pat Galvin is another example of members stepping up. He is always behind the scenes thinking of what he can do to better the Club and help out. His hard work setting up and coordinating our donations to the ARC Automotive School is one of many examples. Katie Owens is quietly in the background making sure we record our actions and decisions accurately. Mike Rappoza keeps our monthly Coffee and Doughnut consumption on task. Dale Nichols keeps the clothes on our backs with cool logos. Ken Montgomery making sure our website is up to snuff and easy enough for me to maneuver through. Ken Freese and his monthly research and report on what our crack, pro-collector car legislative body is doing to support us (just a bit of sarcasm). All the Parts Masters who actually do a great job to help when stumped with a technical issue involving our LBCs. Thanks to all who take on event planning for Rallies which are always fun. And thank you members for showing up in hordes to help with the multitude of tasks, that is the Dixon Show. What a successful event.

I, as President, pass the Scepter, baton, scroll to Kelly Peters as the newly elected UBSCC President. Kelly is the new MG Parts Master, Grand Poobah, and generally a big proponent of the Club. We are in good hands. Also new to the Board is Dennis Flosi as Vice President. He is always helping and set up a wonderful Rally this year. Katie Costanzo has generously agreed to stay on as Treasurer. Katie Owens is also generously staying on as Secretary to make sure we
record our actions.

I will still act as Dixon Donations Chair and set up a rally here and there.
